Gimme Some

by Peter Bjorn And John

/
1.
I don’t think that you are sorry for what you did I know you need it and you just don't know how to quit It’s too late but tomorrow has to wait It’s the time of your life so tomorrow has to wait Tonight’s the night and tomorrow is a million miles away It’s too late but tomorrow has to wait It’s the time of your life so tomorrow has to wait If you control yourself and give up before you break Well it’s too late.
2.
You think you got it made, I’m trying to have some fun You think you know it all, I’ve only just begun You’re sliding on the surface, I’m reaching for the bottom The past is always present, the future fades away And if you think your brain is hollow, you just have to scream And dig a little deeper All art has been contemporary Dig a little deeper, dig a little deeper You enjoy the silence, when I want to discuss You like to keep it tidy, I wanna mess it up I defy definition of who I’m supposed to be I don’t want recognition, If you don’t recognize me And if you think your brain is hollow, you just have to scream And dig a little deeper
3.
When you flew out of the nest, you made a mistake, Flew all the way back When you got back to your den, one minute too late, Was already wrecked It’s a fraction of the whole but it’s so hard to control it Get this straight You can’t, can’t count on a second chance The second chance will never be found You can’t, can’t count on a second try The second try will never come round You stick to what you knew before, don’t know what you like, Just made up your mind The picture still hangs on the wall, from back in the day, When you had it all You can’t, can’t count on a second chance The second chance will never be found You can’t, can’t count on a second try The second try is such a comedown
4.
Eyes 02:53
I don’t wanna make you interested I just wanna make you the only one I don’t wanna ask myself forever, Why I didn’t pull myself together As soon as you peered into my eyes I don’t wanna lose this (don’t wanna wait) Quicker than a kiss (not a second too late) Rapid like an eyelid (look what you did) Being here is one step from being with I don’t have any vocabulary But I hear myself please go with me Acting like six or seven, But I’m really close to heaven, I don’t need to look further than your eyes
5.
Before you break my heart, before you start I’m gonna break your arm and concentration Before you make a sound and try to turn us down I’m gonna stuff your mouth with all your riddles I don’t even know you but your words they dig into me like a knife Trying to explain something you haven’t got a clue about, I guess that’s how it’s done You have had your fun now it will be the other way around Before you break my heart, before you run I’m gonna break your nose and sing about it
6.
We’re both swept up in white, Through misty eyes they say the fabric’s nice Your eyes shut peacefully Your hair’s combed straight and we are both washed clean We’re pale and cold and dry They’ve done their best to make us go in style May seem macabre, but it’s beautiful. If the body hosts our souls, They’re homeless now and circle over us Can still inherit a sense of belonging when they’re Seeing us a two sculptures lying entangled I never felt as home as when I’m next to you May seem macabre, but it’s beautiful. You’re white from powder Our mothers talk as if they were best friends May seem macabre, but to have you there Makes leaving seem fair
7.
Don’t go wrong with your sleepy, sleepy eyes Don’t forget we are watching you tonight Your one trick pony has got no decent shoes You blast the ball but you never learned no rules Don’t let them cool off, don’t let them cool off You got something inside of you, ok It will surely make a difference one day Raise your hand and get yourself down to the ground We gotta put the power back where the power belongs Stop bring us down and out of time!
8.
Black Book 01:35
Please put down your guitar before it goes too far Your music sounds like shit, how many times do I have to say it? You talk and talk and talk about how things should work There’s no alternative, how many times do we have to hear it? I can do everything you do, just a little bit worse Please don’t be stupid sir, your opinion is disturbed You say you want control but in my protocol you’re failing We’re past the turning point, now money equals blood You say it’s not your fault But how many times do we have to pay for it?
9.
Down Like Me 03:49
I have been inside your war zone And I’ve seen you drop your poison You compromize and steal, Telling people how you feel Though it’s not a bit for real, But the dollar gives you wheels And you’re longing to be free But no-one brings me down like me Have you heard, when greed meets hunger How absurd, the weak is stronger ’cause when they are satisfied, They sigh and wipe their mouths And they sleep ’til they awake But for you there’s too much at stake You have to plan the next big break You rest when you are dead like me Down like me
10.
Lies 03:10
You were such a fan of me, now I’ve made our history Look like a burnt out fag, yes I stabbed you in the back And I always did believe that you and me would always be But now I’ve ruined all ’cause I can’t tell lies No I can’t tell lies to you My body’s taking over me, what’s now gonna set me free? My eyes are dim, I can barely see, My legs are limp and my knees are weak And that pair of loving arms that can contain me all around You just don’t possess And I can’t tell lies, no I can’t tell lies So I can’t tell lies to you Now I’m lying under the snow, someone puts a glove in my mouth I’m choking close to throwing up, what’s now gonna pick me up? Listen; Gutter guy complaining when it’s you who’s really drowning My only true love that I ever did have, I sent you down to hell ’cause I can’t tell lies, no I can’t tell lies So I can’t tell lies to you
11.
I need to know when you’re gonna jump down I need to know cause you’re blocking the sunshine I’m so bored with your pessimism Familiar faces so hopelessly stuck I know you don’t love me and I know the reason why I know you don’t love me

about

After a slight detour into dark, percussive synth-pop on Living Thing, the Swedes put the fizz—and guitars—back into their buoyant hooks on 2011's Gimme Some. "Dig a Little Deeper" shimmies with a sprightly calypso groove, while "Second Chance" gets giddy on power pop and some irresistible cowbell. Elsewhere, the trio channel their energy into breathless, speeding punk on "Breaker Breaker" and "Black Book," before they douse it all with sizzling electric guitar on "I Know You Don't Love Me."
